Philosophy and Vision

It is my vision to create a strong, thriving ministry where kids are loved and volunteers are valued; where the life-changing truth of Scripture becomes a life-long reality for every child that walks through the door.

We are staffed by a caring and dedicated group of volunteers. You can be a part of this exciting ministry by calling Benita De Rooy, 95214314 or popping into the church office, to find out about the many opportunities for involvement.

Ministries

(all ministries are held at the St John’s Sutherland Church Hall: Corner of Belmont and Flora Streets, Sutherland, unless otherwise stated).

Sundays

Cry Room

The crying room is provided at the back of the auditorium allowing parents to sit with their children during the Sunday services. It allows parents the freedom to move around without feeling like they distracting the other congregation members.

Provided in the room are couches, toys and an audio loop so that you can still receive the Word while attending to the needs of your little one.

Crèche

Ages 1 – 3 years
During the 9.45am Sunday Service

Security, comfort, and peace of mind!  Parents can enjoy their Sunday experience knowing their child will be loved and cared for by our experienced staff.

While in the care of our staff, children are exposed to the Word of God, worship music, and prayer.  The children are offered play opportunities that encourage cooperation, sharing, and positive interaction.

Preschool Promiseland

Ages 3 – 6 years

During the 9.45am Sunday Service

Our Sunday school program combines the best of traditional and contemporary approaches to teach each child who they are in Christ.

Our teachers will engage your preschool aged children in interactive Bible learning, play simple group games, and offer activities that will stimulate their imaginations. Age appropriate activities are combined with loving attention to give your child a positive experience. Your child will look forward to coming to church

Primary Promiseland

For primary aged children

During the 9.45am Sunday Service

We believe that church should be the most exciting and inviting part of a kid’s week.  We want them to want to be with us.  We want our kids to fall deeply in love with Jesus

Each week we will encourage and equip children to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus.  We will teach the word of God in creative, exciting, unforgettable and life-changing ways.  We will surround them with an attitude of love, praise and godly modelling.

Sun Fun Day

During the 9.45am Sunday Service

Replaces Preschool and Primary Promiseland programs during the school holidays.

On these Sundays, the children start in the church with their parents before heading across to the hall for games, crafts and activities.

During the Week

Kaleidoscope Kids

For primary aged children (k-6)

Wednesdays from 4pm-5:30pm during school terms.

Cost $5 per child

This is a craft-based program for both boys and girls. Come along to an afternoon of craft activities, fun, games, woodworking and possibly cooking

Includes a light afternoon tea

Playtime (Playgroup)

Mondays and Thursdays from 10am-Midday

A place where parents and children (birth – 6 years) can get together, play, relax and learn.

Scripture in Schools

St John’s is involved in teaching scripture, along with volunteers in other local churches, to Primary aged children in our community. We are involved in scripture in 4 local schools across the Shire.

During the Holidays

Kids’ Fun Day

A children’s program for primary aged children based around a theme, held on the pupil free day at the beginning of terms 2 and 3 every year.

Term 3, 2010 – A Mad Scientist Adventure, 19^th June from 9am – 3pm
