Prayer
Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of the family of St John’s, as we live and grow together as the body of Christ. Prayer deepens our relationship with God, acknowledging that He is in charge. Prayer also offers us the chance to praise, seek and listen to God as we attempt to “Be still and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10). Many opportunities exist for you to join with others in prayer. Here are some of them:
PRAYER DAYS
Once a term the whole church comes together for a corporate prayer meeting, for a time of focused intercession for our church and community. Three prayer times run across the day – 6am, 10:30am and 7:30pm. A smaller scale meeting is also run once a month, enabling us to faithfully uphold St John’s and its ministries before God throughout the whole year.

Monday 22nd March — Term 1 Prayer Day
Wednesday 14th April
Monday 17th May — Term 2 Prayer Day
Thursday 17th June
Wednesday 21st July
Monday 16th August — Term 3 Prayer Day
Thursday 16th September
Wednesday 20th October
Monday 15th November — Term 4 Prayer Day
PRAYER DIARIES
A St John’s Prayer Diary is available each month, outling points for prayer and praise across our various ministries. Grab a copy from the church entrance, or via the link below, and be prayerful over the coming month! The Wollongong Regional Prayer Diary can also be downloaded below:
PRAYER CHAIN
Our Prayer Chain is available for anyone who needs prayer, at any time, and for any reason. When a prayer request is received, it is prayed for immediately and passed on to the next person on the Prayer Chain, resulting in approximately 30 people praying in confidence. Requests can be sent to the Prayer Chain via:
* Phone – Jean Blott (9521 5257), Carol Redman (9521 5497) or Sue Bastow (9521 4314)
PERSONAL PRAYER AT CHURCH SERVICES
Emergency prayer for church members can be included in the church service if critical situations arise (e.g. ICU, life-threatening illnesses, woman in labour, etc). Contact Rod Harding or Faye Hillier, or pop a note in the ‘Prayer Request’ box in the church entrance before the service begins.
………
Prayer is also a vital part of Life Groups and other ministry areas of the church.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
