Almighty God,

You gave your only-begotten Son
to take our nature upon him
and be born of the virgin Mary.
Grant that we who have been born again
and made your children 
by adoption and grace
may be renewed daily by your Holy Spirit
Through the same Lord Jesus Christ
Ever one God, now and forever, amen.

What is the mark of a Christian?
That we be holy and blameless and so eat the bread, the body of Christ, and drink the cup, the blood of Christ.

And what is the mark of those who eat the bread and drink the cup of Christ?
That we keep an everlasting remembrance of Jesus, The Christ, who died for us and rose again.

And what is the mark of those who keep such a remembrance?
That we live not for ourselves but for Jesus who died for us and rose again.

What, then, is the mark of the Christian?
That we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God

May we set the Lord always in our sight, watch daily and hourly and stand prepared, knowing that the Lord comes when we least expect him.
Lord Jesus, as we receive the bread and the cup, the gifts of Your body and blood for us, we commit ourselves afresh to loving one another as You love us, amen.

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, is yours.
Thanks be to God!
Let us give God praise and glory.

We praise God for the surpassing gift of Jesus Christ. We thank you, God, for this meal that your child, Jesus, gave us. In it are represented your many gifts to us:

Gifts of daily food, part of your generous creation;
Commemorations of the time you gave manna in the wilderness;
Remembrance of the times that Jesus fed the multitudes;
Recollections of the sadness of the last meal Jesus had with the disciples; 

A foretaste of the heavenly banquet that you have promised;
Memories of mealtimes with friends and with those who have gone before us;
Celebration of loving relationships;
A meeting place for us with you; and,
The promise that you will sustain us through all of life.

The gift of being able to come to your table prompts us to not forget those who are without food and those who are not yet welcomed at your table, strengthens us for tasks of daily living, empowers us with your Spirit for the difficult times.

We want to know you, God.
We want to experience you, Jesus Christ.
We want to breathe you in, Holy Spirit.

Come, meet us now at this table, pouring out your Spirit on us and on this bread and cup.

You alone have created us.
You alone nourish us.
You alone can guide us to be and live as your children.

What we have is nothing, if you are not in our lives. We give ourselves to you here and now. Thank you for your great love given through Jesus Christ and symbolised in this Communion.

Almighty God,

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
you made all things, and you call everyone to account.
With shame we confessthe sins we have committed against you,
in thought, word and deed.
We rightly deserve your condemnation.
We turn away from our sins and are truly sorry for them;
they are a burden we cannot bear.
Have mercy on us, most merciful Father.
For the sake of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, 
forgive us all that is past.
Enable us to serve and please you in newness of life,
to your honour and glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Always and everywhere, it is right for us to praise you, Lord, holy Father, mighty Creator and eternal God. Therefore, with all those gathered around your throne in heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, in words of never ending praise.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, 
Heaven and earth are full of your glory. 
Glory to you, Lord most high.

We do not presume to come to your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your many and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, whose nature is always to have mercy.

Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.

Almighty and everliving God,

Thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the body and blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Thank you for assuring us of your goodness and love, that we are members of his body, and heirs, through hope, of your eternal kingdom.

Keep us faithful to your Son, and strengthen us by your Spirit to do the good works you have prepared for us to do. For your honour and praise, amen.

Heavenly Father,

“Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Therefore Father,

We thank you for these gifts of bread and wine, and pray that we who eat and drink them, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, believing our Saviour’s word, may be partakers in his body and blood.

To Jesus Christ who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood be glory and dominion for ever and ever, amen.

Lord and heavenly Father,
In your loving kindness,
Accept our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. 
Grant that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus Christ,
And through faith in his blood,
We and your whole church
May receive forgiveness of our sins
And all other benefits of his passion.
With gratitude for all your mercies,
We offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory, amen.

Heavenly Father,
We have done things that are wrong; forgive us. 
We have said things that hurt others; forgive us.
We have spoilt your world; forgive us.
Help us to leave those things behind and to live knowing we are forgiven.

The Bible tells us that those who have said sorry to God are truly forgiven. May God’s Spirit make us strong followers of Jesus. May Christ live in our hearts by faith and may our lives be filled with all his love.

Praise to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Loving Father,

God of mercy, you have made us, and you know us better than we know ourselves.

We confess that we have done wrong. We have offended you in what we have thought, in what we have said, and in what we have done. We have not loved you enough, and we have failed to love one another as ourselves.

Father, we are sorry for our wrongs, and our failure to live as you require. Forgive us, cleanse us, and strengthen us to love and obey you in the power of the Spirit. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

Most merciful God, 

We humbly admit that we need your help. We confess that we have wandered from your way: we have done wrong, and we have failed to do what is right. 

You alone can save us. 

Have mercy on us: wipe out our sins and teach us to forgive others. Bring forth in us the fruit of the Spirit, that we may live a life worthy of the calling we’ve received, as disciples of Christ.

Heavenly Father,

Merciful God,

Our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed: we have not loved you with our whole heart, we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent and are sorry for all our sins.

Merciful Father,

We have strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the schemes and desires of our own hearts and have broken your holy laws. We have left undone what we ought to have done, and we have done what we ought not to have done.

Yet, good Lord, have mercy on us; restore those who are repentant, according to the promises declared to us through your Son Jesus Christ. Grant, merciful Father, for his sake, that from now on, we may live godly and obedient lives, to the glory of your holy name, amen.

Thank you for always loving us,
We often ignore you, though.
We don’t do what you want us to do, and

Psalm 10 says

“Arise, LORD! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.”

And so we ask –

Sovereign Lord, you observe all those who dwell on earth. Have mercy we pray on those who now suffer the miseries of a war not of their own making. Have compassion on the wounded and dying; comfort the broken-hearted; confound the hatred and madness of those who make war; guide our rulers, bring war to an end, bring peace across the world. Unite us all under the reign of your Son, the Prince of Peace, before whose judgement seat the rulers of the world will give account, and in whose name we pray. Amen.
